What to expect (Lincoln LSE engine problem)

I currently own a 2002 LSE, the engine has a rough idle and before I turn the key but put it in the oil pan light and battery light are on. However it starts fine every single time and when I push the pettle down theirs hesitation but it will still get up to 90-100. Can I push this fix off to my tax return and what am I to expect to be wrong

As for the lights... they should come on before to "start" the car.... Sounds like you have failing coils (search around, plenty of info on this)... as for waiting, the longer you wait, the more damage you do to your CATs (unburned fuel does damage)...

It is normal for the battery (really an alternator) light and the no oil pressure light to be on when the key is in the run position before the engine is started. (If they weren't, it would be a problem.)

You almost certainly have one or more failing COPs (Coil-On-Plug). The test to determine exactly which ones is involved (expensive), so it is best to just go ahead and replace all six or eight of them. You also need to replace the spark plugs. If there is oil in any of the plug wells, you will also need to replace the valve cover gaskets.

If you put this off for too long, you will also have the replace the expensive catalytic converters, as they will be damaged by the misfires.

If you have the V6, it is also possible that your PCV elbow has ruptured and needs to be replaced. (If you have the V6, you should replace the PCV valve and elbow while you have the intake off to change the coils and plugs anyway.)
 
I own the V8, well thank you very much guys I just got into this forum and I have some parts I'm hunting down as I'm knew to the lincoln family. It's missing the back lincoln badge on the trunk and two of the center caps on the rim are missing but my engine is more important obviously. Love this forum so far thanks!
