so i just got a call from my trusted auto body source saying that my car is done. I got a mirror from kustomizingkid for my mark and had the body shop paint it and put it on (as well as a little buffing on the hood, to get rid of a little scratch that was bothering me, nice and shiny :))) but they told me that the mirror wasn't the exact same as what i had. I had a monochromatic and heated mirror, atleast as far as i know, and the one i got i thought was too. The one i was goin to put on had two plugins, one for the heat and the other for the power mirror,,,(as far as i know at least) and supposedly the body shop was telling me that this one didn't have that "gel" inside the mirror that makes it monochromatic. Don't all mark VIII's come standard with heated and monochromatic???

Yes, it was standard for the dimming mirror. Not sure about the heated part though as Florida cars may not need it. But I am not sure. Either way, the plugs changed styles over the years. If the mirror has the larger plastic ring around the mirror it is the self-tinting type. But over the years many of these have been replaced with a standard mirror since they fail - a lot.

of course the main guy i usually deal with is on vacation i think, so his little worker that does his crap 2 weeks out of the year said this. yea, as far as i could tell the mirror looked the same as what i had on there, minus the broken glass and yellow crap (the monochromatic gel) around the broken pieces.

My Gen II had the the monochromatic gel leak out. I had a hard time finding one that still had the gel inside - went through 3 from my local dealer (this was 3 years+ ago). Finally got one off eBay that was already painted and ready to go - used but had lasted well.

Dang dude... sorry if I hooked you up with the wrong mirror. The mirror you got came off of a 93, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. At the very least it will bolt up and I'm sure the wiring problem is easily fixed if there even is one.

Let me know if this doen't work out and will make things right.

The wiring changed after 93(one plug), as the 94-96 mirrors have two plugs. The ones on my 93 have only one plug. Not sure about the monochromatic, if it was used after 93 most likey an option???? I was going to try and use the 94 and re-wire, but found one relatively cheap and going that route.:)

not all 1st gens are standard auto dim, many are just heated thats it. 2nd gen are all auto dim. 93 was single plug even if they were auto dim or not, 94 up is when they came 2 plug.

no problem, it looks fine, i did see how ever that the one that came off of my car had two plugs,,,and then a very small plug that connected to like the back of the glass (probably for the auto tint).......the one that kustomizingkid sold me had 2 plugs but i didnt see a 3rd little one that connected to the back of the glass,.....????in any case the mirror looks great on the car and i am satisfied,,,,,the mirror on the passeger side might have been replaced at one time too, im not too sure, but all i know is that head lights from cars behind me sure look pretty bright at night in it, so maybe not auto tint>>???

all is good though,,,although, all mirrors on marks are heated though...right???

No not all of the mirrors are auto dim and/or heated. My 95 is not auto dim or heated. My friends 94 is auto dim but not heated.
