What strange random events have you had with the LS?

No phantom beeps yet, but my wife and I do believe there is a LS phantom out there.

Every now and then our LS will lock itself.

Once I stopped to gas up and left the key on the center console, as I was pumping the gas I heard the 'swosh' of the door locks. Had to get my wife to drive out to unlock the LS. Good thing it was late at night else there would be a lot of people ticked at me for tieing up the gas pump for an hour.

It's happened parked at home a few times too.

When I first got the car, every time I'd get out of the car and start walking away, I'd hear a loud "ping" like a dent being popped out. Coming from behind the bumper cover. It was my damn stock muffler!

I put on the magnaflows, and no more noise.

Ditto on the car locking itself. Had it happen while gassing up on a -10 degree night last winter with the car running and my cell phone inside. Took over an hour to get someone to bring me keys as the coded door lock has NEVER worked right. Dealer tried to figure out what was wrong once but couldn't and I told em forget about it as I never use it anyways. Doh! I've also had the SST freak out a few times and not want to shift and also had a 1.5 year issue with the ABS where it would randomly pulse one or both of the front wheels while cruising down the road. Replaced just about everything with no improvement and then it just went away???? No complaints but WTF? Still love the car though.

You guys didnt know the car has auto locks that can be turned off?

They aren't describing the operation of the auto-locks. The problem is often the lock switch inside the driver's door that is activated by the key in the door. It gets wet and can cause random locking.

every time one of my friends sits in the front seat, the heated/cooled seats work for about 5 min then turn off and im not able to get them back on. this is weird because it has never happened with anyone else, only him and its prob 80% of the time he sits there. Its like it knows his weight and doesn't like him lol

My code works for the door, but stupid me kept the card with the number in the glove box and I don't remember the code. Ever since I keep the number on my person so I can get in.

If you have the factory code (the card in the glove box) then you can program your own personal code. Pick a five digit code that you can remember and program that in. There is no need to memorize the factory code.

Also, if you do this and anyone else ever watches and learns your personal code, then you can change it to keep them out. You can't change the factory code.

If he is blocking the airflow enough, the cooling/heating unit will overheat and be shutdown. Check the air filter, it may be nearly clogged too.

had to add something since I am in search mode and saw this thread... yesterday... my cruise control magically fixed itself, all buttons are working perfectly, as if there never was a problem, the problem was that the off button made it slow down and the - button speed up and no way to turn it off unless I use to brake, the + and resume buttons didnt work at all but yesterday and even today... all seems well... very strange.

Sounds like the clock-spring is failing. It can take a year or so to totally fail as the copper wears away.

Sometimes when I park the car the interior lights will not come on when i open the door and the remote will not work. Start the car again and it works fine.

My car had the phantom beeping. Once though, it showed up as Fuel Computer Data Error and my fuel guage went to MT. Turned out there was some fuel tube in the tank that was leaking or faulty which the dealership replaced under warranty. No problems since!

Is he a realy fat dude?

Random beep, like a low fuel one, but my fuel wasn't low, and the screen wasn't showing anything either.

It's the mystery beep. It is well documented here and is an extremely brief loss of communication between the trans computer and the PCM.

The "transmission computer" is the PCM. (The PCM controls the engine and the transmission.)

The mystery beep has multiple causes. In all cases, the cause corrects itself before it can be displayed, that's why they're mystery beeps.

The most frequent cause that I have seen is a communications error between the cluster and the REM. There have also been several reported that are momentary faults of the transmission digital range selector switch (could be due to noise from a failing coil). Is this perhaps what you refer to?

I caught the mystery beep on mine once. Said something like "gear select data error" or something like that. Of course, that's only one of multiple reasons for that beep.

Probably. I probably misused terms. Thanks.

Interesting, I think mine does this too. And I'm not even close to fat :D

This just happened to me tonight: I was driving down some residential street going about 25 mph, when all of a sudden AdvanceTrac starts going beserk, flashing the warning light and randomly pulsing the front brakes! wtf! I stopped and turned off the car and after restarting it it seemed fine.

This happened to me again. ABS/Advancetrac went bonkers.
Also my warranty ended yesterday. Wheeeee!
