what spark plugs do you recommend?

well give them a shot or dont, they have an unbiased money back guarntee if your not happy with them anyway so really nothing to lose, and sparkplug type does have a noticable effect on performance and fuel economy just not a very large one, except for these, these plugs can be used with a modified engine, the only mods you cant use them with is forced induction or anything that modifies compression ratios due to the fact that they dont yet come with variable heat ranges, bolt ons will be fine, not to mention the fact that the epa shut them down for 4 months while they varified their claims, they dyno tested 158 different types of vehicles with different types of engines and showed a substantial increase in fuel economy, engine torque output, and reduced emissions across every vehicle they tested, weve sold about 30 sets here at the shop and havent had one come back, as a matter of fact 9 of the customers wanted there cars dyno'd before and after the installation, so they have a pretty good track record thus far
 
In a car like the LS, if those plugs produce as much power as said you would definitely have to upgrade wires.

The Vette would of course be a different story.
 
actually not, they dont work that way, they are a capacitive discharge plug, which essentially is similiar to a passive ignition coil, insted of using the coil and spring in the cop systems to push the 10k or 20k volts across the gap they use 7 or 8k volts and ramp it up considerably, the output voltage from these plugs is extremely high, thus quicker and more acturate discharge of the plug, and less amperage draw from the primary ignition system, they take quite a bit of stress off the cop systems and the charging system
 
I thought there were no "wires" in the LS. It's a coil on plug system.


And until you produce verified claims by someone other than yourself or someone trying to make a profit then I'll beleive it.

The EPA shutting them down doesn't make me more of a beleiver. All they have to do is put a disclaimer on their product and voila! they can sell their product again. There's probably a reason those customers wanted their cars dyno'd, because they were thinking they just wasted $200 on a set of something they could've had for a quarter of that.

I'm pretty sure in an LS any type of plug would work with the bolt ons just as well as the other unless you have forced induction and need something like a step colder. I'm still not following though, how does a plug put out a higher voltage while reducing draw from the other components. That power has to come from somewhere unless it has some sort of capacitor.
 
So pretty much these plugs take what power they can and juice that up for more power?

Im confused about the wires. I wasn't even thinking about the COP system.
 
I had a set of NGK Irridiums in my ride..... went Nitrous and changed em out for coppers.

SEVERAL companies have tried using caps and what not....even another coil to get a hotter spark....... not worth the moeny. your not gonna see enough of a diff. and as for 200 bucks for 5whp? are you kidding? i spent 50 bucks for a new tune and got like 15. Nitrous kit cost me 400 and I got 125rwhp. Do what you guys want, they are your cars. I'm an EE and I'm saying they dont work. You want that kind of gain for 200 bucks? Pull your spare tire out, turn the ac off and paypal me 200 for thinking of it!
 
cue up royal purple claims, the electric supercharger, and the magnet that clamps to the fuel line top increase MPG by 20%...
 
It is a capacitor hence the "capacitive discharge plug" in my earlier comment, voiltage goes through the roof amperage goes down, less primary ignition system draw = less charging system draw = less drag on the engine from the alternator, however, thats not where they make the increased power or effeciency, neither is the higher voltage, its the consistancy in the firing of the plug across the gap, they get them closer to actual desired ignition timing, less the factory error in actual discharge of roughly 10% in even a high effeciency ignition system
 
besides I have no personal or financial vested interest in having anyone from this forum buy these plugs, I cant sell them to you anyway and am most certainly not associated with enerpulse i just stock there plugs lol

As another EE, I would like to add my agreement that these don't work and are just as much baloney as fuel-line magnets.
 
So your telling me in no way you would receive any financial gain if someone were to read this thread and happen to call you up and order from you? haha right.

And your telling me a car factory tuned for a certain brand of plugs is less efficient by 10% and by covering that 10% gap you gain higher HP by coming closer to the actual ignition timing that the factory supposedly doesn't account for. Can't you acheive the same thing through an aftermarket tune?


Like I said. You produce some unbiased test results, then you might have some believers. But as far as I'm concerned your just hocking a product you sell on here without being a supporting vendor.
 
Well your opinions are your own, I am not an electrical engineer, and have no asperations to be such I am however a mechanical engineer and veterin race engine builder, both piston driven and rotary type ice's, and I assure you, these for whatever reason, do substantially increase relative torque output and fuel economy, by what means they do so is beyond me, and doesnt really interest me for that matter, my opinion is still as such, pulse plugs, with ngk iridium vpowers close behind, both have shown a substantial improvement in flame front propagation amongst 4v engines including the aj 3.9, with verifiable in-house dyno results, besides any plug that has a noticeable effect on exhaust note has to be doing something to cylinder pressure. like I said before if you wanna give em a try, they have a no contest money back guarntee, and actually do uphold it lol so what the hell lol, I thought they were a load of garbage too till I bought a set, now both my ls and my 07 awd fusion have a set, as well as all my employee's in all of their vehicles, we cant all be senile lol
 
No I wouldnt stand to make any money because im not allowed to sell them over the internet, per my contractual agreement with enerpulse so ya, not to mention my list price is higher than what you can buy them for off of their own website lol, and as far as a traditional plug is concerned, it doesnt matter how much tuning you put twords it, you will never overcome the rough error of coil secondary discharge and the actual timing of the arc across the plug gap, changing commanded ignition timing through programming will simply change when the coil primary fires, not the start to finish time of the secondary circuit, you can see these differences on an ocilisocope, they dont amount to much, the error is in the miliseconds but at high rpm one ms is a huge difference in timing and has a drastic effect on cylinder pressure
 
lol i've never heard of such as thing less of course your being sarcastic, I cant imagine how injecting anything into the exhaust stream would have an effect on performance, less your installing flame throwers on a rat rod, or pumping in oxygen to heat up converters more quickly, and injecting exhaust into the combustion chamber reduces nox emissions due to the fact that it keeps flame fronts below 2500 degrees F. but kills effeciency and power output lol
