Hey guys,
I have a 98 base ivory, I have the cats gutted but I'm having the exhaust done soon and it will be true dual. Now I'm running glasspacks and there really is a lot of drone on the freeway lol, oh ya and I'm going to have an x pipe just to equalize

What's the best sounding muffler in your opinion?

Bassani mufflers, in my opinion, make anything sound amazing.

What can you recommend to make my 95 mark sound badass? Right now its got a custom catback, 2.25 inch piping and flowmaster 40s. The flows don't quite do the job for me, i want something louder and more aggressive. What would sound best with my exhaust setup? And i still have the 3rd cat, i haven't found a place to remove it yet.

These are pretty dayum loud! Magnaflow Bullets

But these ...LOL...everyone within a 5 mile radius will know you're out driving

PM NickT88LSC on here. He had a Magnaflow setup I believe on his old GenI. I think it was a dual in/out Magnaflow in place of the third cat or whatever that is. From there I wanna say it was all piping out to the tips. Nothing in between. All in 2.5". Car almost sounded like a friggin' big block.

Our friend up in Ramsey, NJ (about an hour and 15 from SI) does awesome exhaust work. PM me if you want his info. He just did my 550 last Friday all in 2.5" stainless. The sound is off the hook. :D

I have Mangaflow Race series ovals in the stock location with the resonator & 3rd cat removed. It sounds really nice, and I've gotten lots of complimemts on the sound (and a complaint from one of my neighbours, lol ;))
I'd hit up the place NYC is talking about and see what they will do too, I've heard a few Bassani mufflers on cars and they always sounded good too :)

yeah it sounds good but i don't have the $$ to get that system. thanks for posting, good luck with your car too

x pipe

Still have a magnaflow 2 1/4 stainless x pipe unused in the box. $50 bucks takes it. Thanx Bruce

I had the Bassani cat-back system on the Cobra and they sounded incredible with both H and X. I haven't researched yet, but if Bassani has a dual In/Out muffler, I may just get that for this car.

edit:
old Youtube vid with x-pipe and Bassani c/b system on the Cobra. Sounds kind of tame because of high flow cats.

I run Kooks with cheap-a$$ $80 mufflers from SCP. Good enough for the girls I date. :p

Let me tell you this from personal experience. Once you ditch the stock manifolds and run headers on these cars, who cares what you run for mufflers. :D

Seriously though, consider magnaflows. That will be my next choice. These cars sound bad-ass with them. Don't waste a bunch of time thinking about it.

Here is one of the videos that turned me on to them courtesy of Don Pfau:

Supercharged Lincoln Mark VIII Solo 11.66 at 120mph - YouTube

Now I don't know about you, but that sounds BADA$$!

Most any aftermarket system will drone to one extent or another. They are not a tuned system anymore. Sound is also a very personal choice as to whats liked and not...

I liked the sound but when I started making couple hundred mile trips, I had to turn my head to hear the people in the back lol

Thanks Kirk, I like this video best for the sound. It was shot by Trunk Monkey for RobertP in his supercharged Thunderbird and it was the first time it ran in the 10's. But the sound is all my Lincoln. He even shot a video from inside his car and all you could hear was the Lincoln. The exhaust on it is Kooks headers into a Magnaflow dual 2 1/2' in and out X-Pipe resonator mounted behind the headers so it also helps act as a drive shaft loop. Supercharged Mark VIII Vs Supercharged Thunderbird - YouTube I also have a blk/blk 1998 LSC and I was thinking of using Geno's system on it. I like the sound of it best and it seems better suited for it.

Cant compare Mustangs to Mark because the Stang has pipe before and after the mufflers whereas the Marks are at the end of all the piping, totally different sound and drone issues.

Seams better suited for it as it is to be just lightly modified.

Driveshaft loop? The driveshaft is cased in the gas tank tunnel, its fully looped. Plus it has a retainer loop in the middle and a real loop in the back.

How much is this system going for? It says custom made on your car. Can this be made and shipped to my house?

We have it on sale right now for $299.99 plus a flat rate US shipping of $34.99. Its the critical component kit, comes with all needed except piping. We supply a panoramic underside hi res photo of what it looks like installed so you can get quotes and what not. Iv'e seen some shops install our kit for $200.00 and I have seen as high as $350.00. Plus we have our old ROLLED edge razor blade tips back again!!

Yes sir, in the front were it really matters at high speed. I do not like counting on the gas tank for that or even to allow that to happen to it ?????
