What is the diameter of the 2002 V8 MAF sensor

It's not 80mm... the V8 SHO has an 80mm MAF and I measured the LS against the SHO one I had... the LS is smaller. The MAF adapter I have is 3.5" in diameter.

Here is a conversion chart with inches on left and mm on right. 3.5 inches comes out to be almost 89mm. Something doesnt seem right.

2.9134 74.0000
2.9528 75.0000
2.9921 76.0000
3.0000 76.2000
3.0315 77.0000
3.0709 78.0000
3.1102 79.0000
3.1496 80.0000
3.1890 81.0000
3.2283 82.0000
3.2677 83.0000
3.3071 84.0000
3.3465 85.0000
3.3858 86.0000
3.4252 87.0000
3.4646 88.0000
3.5000 88.9000

MAF's are measured at their smallest diameter. In the case of the LS MAF, it necks down to about 72-74mm at it's narrowest passage, then opens up to over 8Xmm. The MAF adapter I have measures about 3.5" diameter and is a straight piece. You're just concerned that the 4 mounting holes line up correctly, which the Draxas MAF adapter does.. It's OK to have a larger opening in front of the MAF, which the adapter provides. Isn't that why you have a larger air filter? To allow more air in? For SnG's, you'll want the 3.5" cone filter if you don't already have one.

Are you going to trust me, or are you going to make me take my intake apart and take pics for you ;)

Can you please take it apart and hold a mm ruler up to it and snap a picture from 15 different angles so I can have proof, hahaha :) j/k

But really, Thanks Mike you have been a great help!! I figured it had to be measured at the smallest point but wasnt sure on how it was done. I learn something new every day. Draxas hasnt called back or emailed me yet. His VM says hes out testing something for a Mazda 3, yuck

No problem. Draxas used to sell alot of the stuff for the Taurus, so I went there looking for similar bolt-ons when I got the LS. They used to be called Duratech Performance, since the Taurus had the Duratech motor. They gotta make money where they can nowadays!
