Part of the brake system that regulates pressure front to back. Both the front and rear lines from the master cylinder go into it and it usually has wires going to it as it also trips the brake failed light in the dash if one system or the other looses pressure.

That is the ABS servo I believe....

I'll look at my service manuals later and see what Lincoln considers being a proportioning valve.

That is what he is asking for but he might also want the check vales that are in the driver’s side front wheel well. I had to replace one of those once.

The master cylinder is a dual piston setup.

From the manual:

Brake Master Cylinder
The brake master cylinder (2140) is a dual piston
type. The brake master cylinder operates as follows:
• When the brake pedal (2455) is depressed,
pressure is applied by mechanical linkage to the
primary and secondary piston.
• Brake master cylinder pistons apply hydraulic
pressure to the two opposed hydraulic circuits.

The brake pressure control valve (2B091) consists of
twin brake proportioning valves, which proportion the
pressure to both rear brakes, individually.
• When the brake pedal (2455) is applied, the full rear
brake fluid pressure passes through the
proportioning valves to the rear brake system until
the valve split point is reached.
• Above its split point, the proportioning valves begin
to reduce the hydraulic pressure to the rear brakes,
creating a balanced braking condition between the
front and rear wheels.

I guess because it's a dual piston master cylinder the normal proportioning valve setup does not apply.

I already phoned this guy up, and talked to him. He is not mechanically inclined, and this Mark is his only source of transportation, and he's barely holding it together. The valves are leaking brake fluid constantly, and he keeps filling it every day. I want to help him out but didn't know what he needed. I have my parts car, I wonder if the part on my 97 will work?

Topping off a leaking brake system daily is a good way to get your self dead.. you push fluid out... then suck in air.. eventually his pedal will fall to the floor.

The picture of the mustang is a combination valve. The MKVIII has 2 seperate prop valves for the rear, because it is a crossed system. One M/C piston does LF/RR and the other piston does RF/LR.

I thought my TBird is also a crossed system, but it has the combo valve. HOWEVER, it does NOT have ABS...
