Do you look at just how it sounds? What is the difference between magnaflow, bolra etc...? Where does it state the modifications that each exhaust setup may add? What should a reasonable and prudent buyer consider when purchasing a catback exhause for a 02LS8 Lux?
-Thanks

*crickets chirping*

ummm....guys?

For our cars you are overthinking it. Go with a sound you like and can deal with, and the cops can deal with in your neighborhood. 2 1/4 is sufficient, 2 1/2 is good also.

Check Youtube for sound clips.

Magnaflows tend to flow a bit better, so therefore aren't quite as loud and usually put out a few more hp (1-2 at most). If you want a louder sound go borla or flowmaster.

nah I don't want a loud ass honda noise but I do like the G35 exhaust sound

That really dont come from the exhaust but the motor. You wont replicate that with these cars but if thats what your looking for you would like the Magnaflow.

materials, all stainless is a must unless you want to watch it rot before your eyes.
also, 2.25" is as big as you need to go on this car (and thats with a power adder). Any bigger and you lose power. play around with a few exhaust size calculators on the internet.
as for sound... less is more on a stock LS. a loud exhaust would be like running slicks on a 15 second car- you just look silly.

I learn something everytime I log onto this site.

I have flowmasters on my car and took out the resonators, sounds awesome under regular driving but if i push it it gets really raspy and crackly, not a big fan of that sound but normal driving is really low and i love it.

;)

NickT just posted a chart. I forget what thread it was in.:shifty:

Your best bet would be to buy the components that you need by preference ie. X pipe, resonators, cats, mufflers, and tips and have a shop supply the pipes and just have them weld something up as straight as they can till they get to the muffler mounts.

I say to make sure you get resonators or tips with pretty beefy resonators or you get that metal like raspy sound even with most mufflers.

I know a few members had that sound with Magnaflow mufflers and no resonators and I would say they have a bit more "muffling" than say Flowmasters so I would get a set of those also.

you can always get some straight pipe and get some good resonators...I might be getting Spintech or Corsa mufflers :-D

You said this over 1,339 posts ago.

Oh wait, for some reason that wasn't even that long ago.
