I just upgraded my wheels and am seaching for some good summer tires (size 235/50/R17) to put on them. Basically what I'm looking for is, to be hackneyed, the best bang for my buck, or spending more if they'll last longer.

Not sure how many of you run two sets of wheels for summer/winter driving but if you do please chime in on your experiences!

Also, I'll be researching on 1010tires.com and tirerack.com (great sites btw!)today at work so if I find a couple of brands I like I'll post em up here.

Any help you guys can offer to this tire noob  would be great!

I don't know if they come in the right size or not, but General Exclaim UHPs worked very well for me. Were there not a chance of getting into light snow on a very rare occasion, they would be on my wife's LS.

I run on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. They add excellent wet traction to the Pilot Sport. They also work well in cold weather and can even handle a little bit of snow.

Alright thanks guys, I'm looking into the Fuzion's now, you're right, great value. Okay now I have three possible candidates, although the Fuzion's don't come in the exact offset I'm looking for

great suggestions and info (that link was PERFECT Quik!).

I made a poll so I can try and organize this a little more and ranked them myself. That being said, my vote is for the Goodyears!

I have a set of the Fuzion HRi's on my car now. I know they are not quite the same tire but I will not be buying them again. The tires were great for the first 10k... even did well in the snow. The wet traction went out the window after only 10k miles. I have 30k on them now and they are ready to be replaced. Road noise increased and they became more difficult to balance later in life.

BTW tires dont have offsets, wheels do.

Dont get the Fuzions. They're loud and cheap. They like to blow out, ive seen several.
Michelin pilot sports are a good buy, but I think a set of Continental ProContact's would serve you better, and they're a much quieter tire. If you are looking for really Extreme stuff, look into Pirelli's P-zero line. They wont last long, but the grip is INSANE!

lol thanks nate, I was multi-tasking at work and made a rookie mistake

I went to a local customs shop on my way home form work and asked the guy about the goodyears, 760 just for the tires

yokohama AVS ES100 (summer)

Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 winter (lower speed ratings: WS-50 or REVO1)

Okay I read a whole bunch of reviews on the General UHP (mostly good, but some bad ones as well) and was set to buy them when I discovered that they don't have the exact size I want (235/50R17) what is available is: 235/45ZR17 and 245/45ZR17. Any possibile issues with these sizes? The only reason I picked the 235/50s is because that was stock sizing (according to tirerack).

Help!

BFGoodrich KDW2's... not expensive, excellent wet and dry, aggresive tread pattern.

245/45/17 is close to the same height, the tread width will be a centimeter wider, but is that a bad thing? Id go for 255/ 45/ 17 that will be 2cm wider, but almost EXACTLY the same height.
You can play around with tire sizes and see how it will affect your speedometer HERE...

If you want to, you can go with 245-45-17 or 255-45-17 tires.
I have 245-45-17 on the OEM wheels and they are fine. Speedometer is a bit faster than before. It shows faster speed than you are actually going by 3-4 MPH.

I've replied to you about my 18" tires size which is 245-40-18 in a PM.

I would stay away from Pirelli tires.

I just put a set of 4 245/45/ZR17's Fusion ZRi on the LS last week I got to say there quitter, smoother, the the Eagle F1's I had on there before and seem to handle just as well. I don't know about the tread ware yet but all in all great tires. Oh and they couldn't fit any better on the OE 17's there perfectly flush with the rim I'll take some pic's when there's light.

That said I had never even heard of Fusion's before. I Had a set of Proxes 4's on my T-bird and I loved those tires so I was trying to get a set of the newer Toyo Proxes T1R-S's but I could not find them anywhere.

i have set of continental contiextreme contacts on the V. love em, it originally came with goodyear eagle f1 runflats but i got a deal on the continentals. only problem i have no spare so i get a flat im s.o.l.

id go with either of them...or kuhmo ecstas are nice too

Just ordered 4 Genreal's off tirerack and having delivered to a shop less than a mile form me, total costs with install est. $506

thanks again for all the info!!! Trying to find the perfect tire is like shopping for the LS ALL OVER AGAIN haha.

I'll post some pics of the OEM chrome wheels w/ the General's as soon as they are done!
