So I bought this car and when I did I was told the factory warranty was good till April. Turns out it ended at the start of this month. Thanks, lying ass salesman.

But I had bought the premiumcare Ford extended warranty, so I should be good.

Then my motor in the passenger side heated seat goes out. Guess what isn't covered under the warranty?

My heater blower also makes an obnoxious humming noise, which the Ford service guys can't hear.

And the annoying hum/whine from the radio's fan? They can't hear that either.

And the bad pulley for the serpentine belt? Can't hear anything.

The kicker though is the clockspring. Everytime I turn the steering wheel, it grinds/rubs (you can always feel it) and produces a rubbing sound that is PLAIN AS DAY. They didn't notice anything at all.

The heated seat motor is a $600+ job the guy told me. I'm sure it would have been covered under the original factory warranty, which I would've utilized had I not been lied to.

Had to vent there, I am pissed. I still have hope for the heated seat motor, don't know why in the hell that wouldn't be covered. Going to call Ford warranty dept. tonight and find out what the deal is.

your grinding feel in the steering is actually your rack starting to go bad. there is a TSB regarding that. also your pully and the tensioner are prob both bad. there is a TSB concerning those components as well. hope that will help you. also take it to a different dealer. Most dealers have been told by their owners to avoid warranty work, they will jerk you around and if you do take it in make sure you put the stock tune in or they will void your warranty, they will still be able to tell but hopefully they wont look.. i think they can see it if they data log it///

sounds like they took you

did you read the papers before you signed?

Just heard back from them on this. It's a bearing in the steering column. Whole steering column needs replacing. Covered under warranty thank God.

I did put on the stock tune before I took it to em - don't want anymore problems.

I think they may be jerking me around some, that's why I'm gonna get on the horn with the Ford corp. warranty people and bitch. We'll see how that goes - I definitely think heated seats should 100% be covered.

Talk about a Stealership dilema....only problem I got with my car when I got it...I shoulda got it for a lil less...unless 2 years ago a 2000 LS V8 fully loaded (non-sport) with 74k miles was worth 11k....but I'm still happy with my purchase :-D

I got the sheet of what's covered here with me. Looked it over last night- nope, no heated seats on it. I have the Premium Care plan, which is the best extended warranty plan they offer. 500+ things covered, but no heated seats.

This wouldn't have even been an issue though if the salesman hadn't lied, or inadvertantly lied, to me about when the factory warranty was up. I missed it by 4 damn days. I figure a trip to the junkyard to pull one out of a trashed LS will be in my future if I ever want a heated passenger seat again.

I've had one problem on my '05 I bought last year-a rear pinion seal. I got it to the dealer one day before the factory warranty expired.

Hey talk to the Service Manager, They can sometimes get Ford to cover those things that go out just with a few weeks of the Factory warranty. It is worth a try.

When I bought my 04 a few years ago, I bought it with 49,800ish miles.

At 50,500ish I noticed the seat heaters didnt work (on either side). Ford told me to get bent, and that the job on the drivers side was $1800 alone because they had to replace the pad or some :q:q:q:q.

Good thing the extended warranty covered the tranny problems at least. They had my car for just under 60 days (long story). But they gave me a brand new fully loaded Mountaineer for those days. Good times, good times indeed. Mountaineers don't rock crawl all that bad.

P.S. - 3 years later and I still dont have heated seats. I guess I'm just lazy and don't care that much. The cooling works, so thats all that really matters.

I figure it may be worth it to grab one from a junkyard sometime and install it myself if I can, but who really cares. At least my seat is still heated. It's definitely not worth the money the dealer wants to fix it. I'll ask my regular mechanic next time I see him how much it would be from him, but even still it's low on the list.

Just had to update because it's so awesome. Got car back today, only thing dealer found to fix was the rubbing/grinding in steering wheel as previously stated. They fixed-

The whole steering column
The clockspring
The shaft assembly
A couple other small thing related to that

Guess what isn't fixed though? The frickin rubbing/grinding noise. Good lord. It's like they put it all back together after they "figured out" what the problem was, and didn't even turn the wheel once to see if it was fixed. :(

Because most likely the problem is the rack making the noise not the colume. Mine does it and I'm gonna do the FORD TSB on it to add XL-3 fluid to PS pump to see if that helps.

I mentioned that to the tech when I went back today, he says that's not it. They are going to replace my rack next on Thursday.

I put in generic trac-lok additive that I got from Auto Zone in the power steering fluid and the low speed squeaky noise is completely gone.

I didn't do it per the TSB directions, since I didn't see what it was until a few days after I had poured the stuff in. It took a good two days or so to quiet down. Just an FYI.

The bottle of XL-3 is 5 dollars and there is a FORD TSB about it. Why don't you try that before having rack done. But if you can get the rack done for free cool. I don't know your warranty.
