Hey guys, I bought my LS V8 last July and have had zero problems with it, but I now I have a weird problem and this is why I came on the forums!

First off, I get some misses when anywhere between 50-60 mph, so every time I merge on a highway, it starts to miss in that speed range, any speed before or after and it doesn't miss.

Second, under heavy acceleration, the engine light will turn on and flash and the car misses a lot, and when stopped at idle, the car is shaking horribly. But, right after this happens, if you turn the car off for 15-20 minutes and start it right back up, shes perfectly normal.

I am assuming these issues arise from bad spark plugs and failed coil packs?

It is also to my understanding that its best to replace all plugs and coil packs at the same time with OEM stuff, right?

Thanks!

STOP DRIVING CAR. Put all new plugs and COPs in it and forget about it. Check for oil in plug wells also and change out valve cover gaskets if oil noted.

Forgot to mention that it's a 02 LS V8

You know, if you read the sticky posts on the forum or did a tiny bit of searching, you would know that you don't have a "weird missing problem." You have one of the most common LS problems.

I did, but I didn't really clarify...I knew this whole missing thing is common for the LS, but I thought it was weird that the engine light would flash, but then go away after you restarted the car.

Yes, OEM coils and plugs are the way to go. That looks like a good deal.

Thanks man! I thought it was a good deal myself, but just wanted to make sure from another member before I bought it.

I work at an Acura dealership so putting in new plugs and coil packs wont be a problem. a heated garage is always nice in the winter :)

It may or may not be a good deal. Those are not OEM coils! (Look at them, they are some brand called Map.) To their credit, they do clearly say after-market.

Be sure to check the plug gap and adjust as needed. It needs to be 1.0 mm

Got ya. It seems that most often there is no light, but I've had the flashing light as you describe too.

I see an expensive set of CATS for this OP in the very near future.

I saw that eBay deal too and almost pulled the trigger on it until I saw that they aren't OEM coils.

Speaking of non-OEM coils, joegr, what are your thoughts on Delphi coils? I know that Delphi did a lot of OEM work for GM, but didn't know if they would put out a good aftermarket coil.

Wow thanks for the correction. I did not look closely enough.
