so i go to get my black powder this morning for tomorrows festivities and on the way the car just started to run like S#IT at a stop light it was idling real rough and surging from 500 to 1200 with the ac off trying to get off the road it wouldn't go over 4k and acted like it was in neutral. now i installed a superchips chip yesterday that i bought from another member here it worked awesome i also did a seafoam clean and new cone filter last monday in anticipation of the chip. so when i get to a parking lot i pulled the chip out and it runs like normal, im not saying that the chip i bought was crap because he stated that i worked in his car and it did for a day in mine. did the chip just expose a weak link in the system? i have had a cel come on after long trips with a few WOT's but it would always go away after a while, it would also start up roughly after that would happen, hence the seafoam which solved that problem. so after my novel does anyone have any ideas? im not a retard when it comes to cars i just no longer have the means to check anything major because our appt. manager is a DICK and wont allow me to do any work here or keep and of my tools in the onsite storage saying its a liability they cant afford. so any ideas will be welcomed and tried out.
thanks in advance
mike

Your posts confuse me.

So it ran like crap with the chip?

Several issues if so.

1. More then likely you did not propercly and completly clean the protectant crap off of the computers terminals that the chip goes too.
2. Computer chip is bad
3. Chip is for a different code ECU.

yesterday it ran great with the chip and today it ran like hammered down dog $hit. how do i check to see if it is the right code so i can match it to my computer. and i cleaned the contacts of all the protective stuff with alcohol and a fine emery cloth till i saw the copper. im sorry im confusing just don't really know how to describe the situation with my writing.

You also need to split the computer case in half to be able to clean both sides properly, and you do need to clean both sides!

also, double check the vac hose that you used when you did the seafoam treatment. kinda sounds like what my car was doing when i had a bad vac leak. next time it acts up, punch it, if it runs OK, or at least a ton better under WOT, its probably a vac leak.

and like said, you have to clean the ECU really well.

ok so i pulled the ecu back out and pulled it apart and really cleaned it i actually took my desoldering tool to it and you were right i didnt get it clean enough just replaced it and so far so good we will see in the morning i also checked the vac lines they all looked good so just to be sure i hit each one with some ether and no leaks showed up im sure glad i found this site and all of your knowledge thank you everyone. :D:)
