Alright so I'm having a problem with how my gas is being read. Like my needle will be on a quarter of a tank for example and we all know that is about 50 somewhat miles but the computer will say I have like 80 or 90 miles left and I know that the needle is correct cause previously when I noticed this it was on a quarter of a tank and next thing I know I had 90 miles out of nowhere. Has anyone ever had this problem cause I can't find an answer for this anywhere and if so how do I fix it

DTE (Distance To Empty) is calculated based on gasoline quantity left and average MPG for the last few hundred miles. If you are getting better gas mileage lately, then your range will be improved. 80 to 90 miles to empty with a 1/4 tank of gas is actually about right. Your mileage must have been pretty bad before.

1/4 tank is 4.5 gallons.

90 miles / 4.5 gallons is 20 miles per gallon, which is reasonable. I generally get 18 to 20.

50 miles / 4.5 gallons is 11 miles per gallon, which is much worse than I've ever done.

So, the short answer is for you to drive really badly so that your mileage goes back down. Then your range will be "fixed" and go back down to 50.

I mean that's a good thing then but it still says that my mpg is 11 miles idk if maybe that takes time to reset too. I know this started to happen when I went to start my car and the terminal on the battery wasent tight so it reseted everything so I figured maybe that had to so with something.

Yes, losing battery power will reset the DTE mileage estimate to default (probably around 20 MPG), and the average mileage to zero. Both will be settled in within 1000 miles or so.

I believe it is the average MPG of the last 500 miles and your remaining fuel (-reserve) that the computer uses to calculate the DTE.

AFAIK, that is correct. Unlike the average mileage reading (defaults to zero), if you disconnect/reconnect the battery, the DTE defaults to about 20 MPG until you've driven far enough for it to recalculate.
