My ‘04 V8 with 303k miles has been running fantastically. Yesterday, I was driving up to my mom’s house and was caught in usual SoCal traffic. We were crawling (5-10 mph) up a slight hill and the outside temp was 79. I usually have my OBD2 reader going to monitor things like temperature. When I looked the temp was sitting at 222 and then to 224. I turned up the AC to get the fan going and then turned on the heater. The temp came down quickly to 210.
After a few mins, the traffic cleared up and I turn the AC back on and the temp stayed at 204-208. When I got to another patch of traffic, again crawling up a slight hill, the temp was at 208 and stayed there the remaining 60 miles.
All the parts are Motorcraft and only a couple years old including an aluminum degas bottle, a relatively new DCCV, and a larger 4 core radiator.
Any thoughts on this phenomenon? Could the DCCV be going bad?
