What makes the Gen 2's weight more then the Gen 1's?

My friend and I went to a truck scale, there is one by a cold storage near me, and he was 300lbs less that me. We both had a full tank and we were both out of our cars.

not sure why its that big of a difference ,but gen2's have more sound insulation,thicker carpet i think,possibly heavier/thicker seats,etc.

i would have guessed maybe 100 lbs difference,???

did you have junk in your trunk? or a big subwoofer?

different wheels than factory?

Maybe the scale was off, but there is nothing other than stock on or in the car.

Gen 2 is only slightly heavier by maybe 50-60 lbs. The seats are heavier and there is more insulation.

^^ Add to that the motorized steering column, air injection pump for emissions and stuff! Lol. I suppose options can make a difference too; stuff like sun roofs, heated seats, true dual exhausts, wheel type, stereo type etc. (from a weight point of view im kinda glad i have a base gen 1 which has none of the good stuff!)

Edit: I wonder if the aluminum gen 2 hood is also heavier than the plastic gen 1 hood?
I also wonder if the gen 2 intake is heavier...

Race weight with a full tank of gas and my 200lb fadass in the seat

for conversations sake..
My car has only 1 option that I can find.. the homelight garage door opener.
no traction control
no moon roof
no cell phone
no JBL
etc...
I'm pretty sure the lack of JBL, Moonroof etc is why my car without the driver weighs in in the high 3770LBS

I was pretty amazed that this pork of a car was so light.

AND..with that said.
I weighed my car on an NHRA calibrated scale.

the rear neon tail light is good for 100 lbs , dimming side mirrors are at least 16 lbs each

lolol, the neon MIGHT weigh 10lbs, maybe less......lol, and it feels like its gonna break on you, one time i took it off just to check it out, i was scared of dropping it lol
