Ok guys I'm a Ford automotive technician and my wife has a 05 caddy deville with a leaking water pump I think...lol This is how it goes I bought the car 3 years ago with 38,000 miles it now has 69,000 miles. For the last two years of that time about once a year the check coolant level light would come on once a year and the rez would be about a inch and a half below full no biggie. So both times I took it to work and put a pressure tester on the cooling system and nothing. The last time however when I was changing the oil I noticed a coolant drip coming up from above about where the water pump would be.
So I again took it to the shop and pressure tested it and nothing. I then got a mirror and started looking for signs of where the leak could have been coming from and it looks as if the water pump leaks intermittently. Is this a common issue? Anything I should look out for while changing the water pump?
