Water leaking onto pillars

Hello,

It looks like the duct work my be clogged on my '03 as I just started getting water coming in on the pillars. Is this something I can unplug or do I need to take it to a dealer where they have some compressed air?

open sunroof.

stick head out.

pull headliner down.

reattach drain plugs.
 
On the corners of the sunroof under the headliner you will see drain hoses. Those hoses have most likely came loose and need to be reattached
 
Gotcha. Thank you. I will take a look tonight. Anything good for the possible removal of the water stains???
 
I just pulled this pic. off the web. But is this what I am pulling down to access the drains? Is it secured by clips that might break if I don't do it correctly?

No...the pillars that run along the side of the windshield. Once those are out u should be able to pull the roof down in each front corner and see the drains. When I did mine it was tough to get my hand in there but it was maybe a 30 min job.
 
Thanks, but I think I might just take it to the garage. I see the pillars, but I'm not sure exactly how to get them off. Just pull?

Yes

Remove the pillar, Remove the sun visor, Remove the rubber door trim (IIRC) and pull down on the head liner. You will see the tubes then.
 
ok, four post in and i can tell you if you try to fix this yourself, your only gonna make the problem worse. seek professional help.

if you cant tell be looking at the headliner that all of the sh!t mounted to the headliner needs to be removed before you start yanking, then your probably not the kind of guy that can come up with a creative solutions to fix the problem of the hose not being long enough anymore.

Just went through this not long ago. Easy job just take your time.

I removed the A-pillar covers, visors, handle, sat onto the centre console, unclipped the overhead console/bin, and pulled the headliner down. Then from the outside of the car with the door open, pulled the headliner down and saw the tube. It was too short to reach back onto the black plastic nipple of the drain, so I extended it using some vinyl tubing we had laying around. I also removed the B-pillar covers for better access.
 
If the tube is still long enough you could always zip tie it so it stays tight on the plastic nipple. That's what I did and still no leaks.
 
Got it done. Thanks for all the help. Ended up doing the 2 in the rear as well. But the driver's side did get disconnected and I used the clamps to get them in place.

I learned that my driver's side leaked thanks to tropical storm Issac. Thanks to this thread it is fixed, but I have water stains also on the A-pillar.
 
For my water stains, I used a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide and luke warm water. I sprayed it on and then just blotted it dry with a dry towel. I did not rub back and forth b/c I thought it would tear up the fabric or cover material of the pillar. I think I lightly sprayed the entire pillar so the solution wouldn't leave any rings either. It worked very well for me. No traces of the marks.

Hurricane Issac thought me that all four doors of my 325i leaked. (Fixed now, I think.)
 
No problem. Good luck. I decided to try it after seeing my wife use it as a stain remover on clothes, etc... The spray bottle I used had a nice broad mist to it. I didn't think I wanted to soak it and create other rings. But I know I dampened the entire pillar. You might have to put a little more on the ring, but don't be afraid to dry and repeat.
