I washed my car the other day and out of curiosity opened the trunk to look at the size of the spare tire. I noticed water in the bottom of the trunk. I felt the carpet on top and it was dry. I got all the water out and took out the spare. It rained the other day and I checked the trunk and it had water in the bottom again. It's under warranty but I haven't had time to get it to a dealer. Anyone else had this problem?

In the past I've solved problems like this by getting in the trunk with a flashlight while an assistant runs the waterhose over the trunk. Once you figure out where it's coming in, the problem is usually easy to find and fix.

But, since you're under warranty, I'd let the deler handle it.

I've never had this trouble with my LS.

yep - three spots to look at:
- the seal the goes around the trunk and seals against the lid (it's like $80 to replace)
- the bottom of the spare wheel well has a a flexible tape-like piece covering some ventilation holes - it can tear through.
- the taillights are held in with three bolts that have a sealant around the bolts

Also consider checking the license plate surround, mine leaked, had 3" of water in the spare tire well.

So I punched a small drainage hole in there should it ever leak again, after I resealed the surround.
