I know this has already been covered but i did a search and could not find anthing. anyway i am planing on puting a Walbro 255 fuel pump in my 96 mark 8 i will be getting it from http://www.jdsperformance.com/index.asp?initemuid=436&fcmd=item&inmake=0 and i need to know if i should get the GSS317 or GSS342. also if any one has a tech article that would help alot (i have already seen the one on LvC that is for the gen2 but i would like to see one for the gen one) . thanks

i think the gen one is nothing like the gen 2 basket style, i believe its just the pump secured to the steel lines with a sending unit attached to the side. should be pretty straight forward remove sock, pry pump out of lower retaining ring remove hose from top and unplug

You can either use the regular 255 or the HP... the HP isn't needed unless you are going to be using nitrous or forced induction. It's a bit louder than the regular one.

Just get the SVT focus pump.. Still flows 255lph, its around the same price and its easier to install from what i have read! seems like the way to go!

ahh, for some reason i thought it was a 98.. i must have misread..

did they switch to a return style fuel system in 97 or 96 when they went obdII?

They just switched to a metal tank with a completly different basket and sending unit for the 97-98.

ok guys i found this one on ebay.Has anyone ever bought this one or would u recommand the jdperformance focus one? help im looking to buy it for my gen 2 mark viii in a couple days thanks....

That's not a Walbro, it's a TREperformance knock off. I have heard mostly bad things about those fuel pumps, I would steer clear, get a real Walbro for a first gen Mark VIII or the Ford Focus SVT pump - from Ford - for a second gen Mark VIII.
