hey guys im putting a double din in my car in like 2 days and i was wondering with the buttons on my steering wheel will still work? i really like using them there the just good to have does anybody knw if they will still work with the double din? i hurd i have to buy a module for it is that true?

without an interface kit from who ever makes your double din than No.
i just put a kenwood in and didnt get the kit to make it work ....

my thinking was, sacrafice a few buttons for DVD playback is ok with me!!:D

I'd say you have to buy a module. You need a module for the steering wheel controls to work for any aftermarkt head unit.

just did a lil reading and now i think im going to have to get it....

anyone here done this and which exact kit did you use.

i have a kenwood ddx512 and it says it works with it, just not sure how it plugs into it>

peripheral makes a bunch of adapters for different head units. for ex. there is a direct input adapter for some pioneer, alpine, sony, kenwood, and jvc head units that have a hardwired remote plug:) . there is also a universal adapter for ANY head unit the uses an IR remote:( . all the adapters cost about $100. I have installed many different kinds of adapters and i strongly recomend the hard wire versions they are easier to put in and just plug into the back of the radio. the universal IR units have to have an "IR sender" which is like a small led that needs to be mounted to send a "learned" command which can be blocked (by a cup in the cupholder or someones hand:mad: ) and there is usualy a delay (about 1 - 1.5 seconds) between the time you hit the button and the time the radio reacts

for the kenwoods there should be either (depending on how old) a 3.5 mini plug on the back that says "remote in" or a wire out of the back that says "remote cont" the model number should be different depending on which connector type you have, I belive peripheral makes both, also I belive the company P.A.C. also makes iterfaces for that.

:D ill check it out

cant wait for my sterling wheel controls to work again
lol
