Picked up a vibration this week.I beleive it is coming from the trans but not possitive. With OD on or off when approaching the 55-65 mph the car gets a vibration that is not continuos as in it never stops but is in the sense that it is a intermittent vibration.Shakes pretty good through the sterring wheel lasts about 1 sec than goes away for 2 then comes back again for a second and so on.When accelerating past 65 it seems a die down a bit but does not go away. When holding a steady speed between 55-65 and at the same time slightly tapping on the brake the trans seems to down shift a bit but vibration doesnt go away.Does everyone beleive as i do that i have some type of trans problem? Any suggestions? thanks

Torque converter. Mine was doing the same thing. I got a Marauder converter from Blue Oval Chips and could not be happier.

Might try some stop shudder if you want a quick fix or like k9 said get a converter and go higher stall.

The fact that it continues beyond where the TC should lock up and when the trans downshifts makes me think it might be something else. Wheel balance, alignment out of spec, worn susoention parts could possibly cause this.

I agree. If you feel it in the wheel I would look at front suspension. Wheel bearings is where I would start.

The vibration is felt anywhere while sitting in the drivers seat but more so through the floor board and pedals.I did not to long ago put a set of new wheels and tires on it however the vibration began shortly before than. The car does drift to the right but not bad enough that it needs aligned.I have a friend/coworker that is a master mechanic. He runs technical support for mitsibushi in the adjacent building. When i explained this to him he also said convertor. It is annoying and i do attend on taking care of it asap I just do not have alot of dough laying around for mis diagnosing the problem. So i see that kn said he also had this same problem and he went straight to stall. That's good to know.Is there anyone else who has or had this type of vibration before? Also anyone else have any idea what might be causing this

I also think suspension components or even possibly a bad universal joint. My old 94 had bad sway bar end links that behaved just as you are describing.
It should be rather obvious with a quick inspection with the front wheels off if it is the suspension.

Look at the inner and outter edges of the front tires and see if they are cupping or if one side of a tread block is higher then the other. If so that would indicate bad suspension parts and/or poor balence on the tire. I realize you said it started before the new tires went on which makes me lean more towards the worn suspension. Also if the car is pulling AT ALL then itneeds to be aligned as something is way off.
I get a vibration in my steering wheel between 60-70 but I know its from the tires being slightly choppy from my old bad struts. Ill just live with it till its time to get new tires cause then I will do new wheels at the same time.
