Hello all. Just joined today and I have two questions about the LS I just bought: '04, V8, 50k mi. One question is about the heating system. Before I ask about that, I'll check the codes I've seen on some other threads. This post is about the drive train.

Car rides smooth as can be at every speed, except for about the 38mph to 45mph range. Within that range there is a gentle vibration. Seems centralized so I don't think it's a wheel or tire. Doesn't happen on acceleration through this range - only while cruising. Makes me think drive shaft or rear end (thus the "oh, no" in the thread title).

Before the car hit 50k mi, I had a Lincon dealership guy ride in it with me. Of course, there was no problem then. But it was raining hard and because of traffic I could never really get up to steady 40mph.

I hoping one of you guys knows of some secret switch I can flip somewhere to instantly solve the problem. If not, can anybody offer any hope or suggestion?

I still say wheel balance is a first and very likely culprit.

Have you tried rotating wheels to see if it changes the vibration issue at all?
