Very strange!

Hey guys, I couldn't pull anything up in a search with this issue. I've got an '01 LS8 Sport. Today, everything was fine with the display in the instrument cluster, and for the radio, etc. When I turned the lights on, the lights came on, but all of my displays turned off. No gas mileage, no radio, no climate control screens. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, what could it be?

I've had the car a year and a half, and have already had the coolant boiling issue(fixed), and some crazy electrical gremlin in the rear electronic module in the trunk(fixed), the air bag light(not fixed yet), and now this. Today was the first time I'd considered selling it. Any help would be appreciated!

Actually, you guys don't sound stupid at all. I forgot that I had cleaned the interior of the car today. I didn't even think about it, since I didn't realize the dimmer would actually shut the radio off all together. The display? Yes, definitely, but the music? Anyway, I was at my girlfriend's, and it hit me. I went out to the car to see if it was the dimmer. Sure enough, it was! Man, I feel like a complete jackass! LOL! :slam Thanks to those who posted, had I not thought about it first, your advice would have taken care of me.

lol, believe it or not this happened to me before as well (minus the posting it on here). i got scared and said "damn, i'm going to have to take this POS car back to my mechanic". then as i was driving back home from work i just reached over and said to myself "could it be this f***ing simple?", sure enough, it was

Just kidding, the other day I was freaking out because my auto-lights weren't turning on and then I figured out I didn't even set them. We should make a thread of just idiotic things we've done with this car.

LMAO! Good idea! I'm sure I'll have more idiotic things to post. It's hard going from a car that you know every last thing about, for almost 7 years, and then getting into a car that you know nothing about.

Only other thing I can think of, is how many times I've walked to the other side of the car to pump gas, and realize that I didn't hit the button to unlatch the door. Most of my previous cars didn't have the locking fuel door.

HA! did the EXACT same thing yesterday. washed the car in and out wiped everything down, got in that night and started to freak -- where are my displays? thankfully my roommate was in the car and said that exact thing.. didn't you wash you car? did you hit your dimmer?

Dang... it goes to show how these cars have us at times! Something goes wrong with it, we're already fearing the worst! *LOL*
