Very Sad

What else would you expect from liberals and the ACLU?

They are all about tearing America down.

I think they should tear down every cross in Arlington also. After all, those crosses are on government land.

We should also tear down the crosses all over the world where Americans have fought and died for freedom.

When we surrender to our enemies, which will be sooner than you think, all Americans who have sacrificed will have been for naught.

What a disgrace!

Well, if the cross gets torn down, I hope the locals / supporters do the right thing:

Put up a bigger cross or multiple crosses everywhere!!!

All this because some toolbag in Oregon is offended? LMAO.

It is disgusting, but it is the times we live in.
Old values are increasingly being tossed aside.
It all started years ago with(to quote Bill Orielly) "that dopey pinhead " who fought for baning prayer in public schools.
It has mushroomed into the aclu, and what their vision of the country should be.
I honestly belive the court will side with the aclu.
So how do we "sane" and just people get around stupid ordinances like this?
It is really not all that difficult, and that statement applies to many things that are in the warchest of the aclu.
Let's just take a look, and solution to just a few, including this one which is the topic of this thread.
Years ago, when veterans stood for something(sadly they don't count for much anymore) we celebrated them .
When this cross was erected, there was never the slightest thought it would ever be in question but, times change, and we must change with them.
So what is the solution in this case?
First, it is government property so, instead of erecting a religous icon, a government icon would be more in line with the message of rememberance trying to be put fourth.
A large flag with a permenant placque of rememberance would do just fine.
A larger than life bronze statue of a few veterans saluting a flag would also be a solution.
Something is being lost in the turmoil of this memorial, that being, the veterans sacrafice for this country.
That is what is important, not a piece of wood in the middle of the desert.
The point is, veterans need to recognized for their sacrafice in the name of freedom.
What better icon of freedom than the American flag?
What better icon than a bronze statue of veterans saluting that flag?
The need for a religous icon is nill.
Now a solution to one other aclu fiasco that they have put on the front burner, Gay Marraige.
In this case, the problem is the word itself, not the action.
Solution is simple, gays need a "new" word to replace marraige.
That word has been reserved throughout history as a union between a man and woman.
The solution is chage the word to something else when relating to gay unions between to adults of the same sex.
Sometimes the solution is right in front of us, but we can't see the forest for the trees.
Bob.

the stupid son of bitch is catholic and he is offended by a cross out in the middle of no where. i have been out to the desert in Arizona and New Mexico, you don't just come across random things, like the cross, you have to look for them. it's just like that case in California where a father of a girl, who had no custody over her, decide that she was offended by saying "one nation under God" and took to the supreme court. turns out she had no problem saying this. i am so sick of these damn dirty hippies trying to destroy everything that everybody loves in America. I'm almost positive that if it was a giant Buddha, or a picture of Muhammad these dick headed hippies would calibrate it as diversity. according to them the only people who have, or deserve rights are non white male christian, as long as you don't fall in to that category then they help you. have you ever heard of a white male christian going to the ACLU. What has this country come to when you have to hide your religion, your beliefs, and your values because a bunch of rich over educated hippies will take you to the cleaners because some one MIGHT be offended by something on the other side of the country, that they might see if the might go there and happen to accidentally wind up in the middle of the desert. It seems like free speech only applies to the minorities, what ever happened to what the majority rules. I'm no scholar, philosopher, or politician but it's pretty easy to see that this has got to stop. when will we stop wasting all this tax money on these political WITCH HUNTS that benefit NO ONE. the only thing that results is one happy person and 30,000 pissed off people. that is not what America was founded on. doesn't it seem a little hypocritical that our government allows these people to attack one specific religion or group of people, that's spitting right on the constitution.
GOD HAVE MERCY ON US ALL

I live 10 miles from that VFW, but havent heard anything about this. I didnt even know that memorial existed. I NEED SOME HELP! I have been searching the net but cant find the location. The closest I can get is that it is somewhere in the 1.6 million acre Mojave National Preserve. I want to go out there and put crosses all over the place. This is one of the most rediculous things I have ever heard. I am so pissed off I can hardly think right now.
