215 60 16 are stock which means the sidewall is 129mm 235 55 16 is 129.25. Fairly close. Is 235 to wide to run on an ls? Will it rub?

depends on off set and such.... I have 245 up front and 275 out back. Some people have 285s out back. stock wheels should be fine

The 235s should fit just fine. IIRC, the '03-'05 V6s came with 235/55s on the stock 16" wheel.

Really? That's what I get for thinking....that the V6s came with 16s and the V8s had 17s. Heh.
