I checked my tires today, the front left, and only the front left, seems to be wearing from the inner side to the outerside. The inner side looks almost bald, and the outerside looks fine. There is also a small gash in it. Could something be rubbing against it? I just took my aftermarket wheels off and put these on about 500 miles ago, and all the tires looked fine then.

could be a bad strut on that side only. although most of the time both struts are bad at the same time.

ls uses shocks. I don't think bad shocks cause that type of tire wear.

Dude, lets not go throught this again.
I agree that it doesn't seem to be a strut up front in the LS since the front upright's upper end is not attached to it. That is the definition that I learned in college as well.
That is not ford's definiton Ford calls it a strut because with the spring it is an integral suspension support and damping unit.

I do know I've had bad shocks cause funky tire wear.

Bad shocks/struts usually cause a choppy wear pattern. I'm guessing allignment probably from worn tie rod or ball joint.

that is odd! 500 miles? something is definitely rubbing or WAY out of whack.

The reason I brought up strut vs. schock is that a strut is LOAD BEARING...meaning when they act up they can cause some weird stuff. When a shock fails it just gets bouncy.

With that that much wear on that little miles if it is out of alignment the tire would be visibly leaning in (top of tire towards the engine). If thats not the case I would think a faulty suspension part

A car that is out of camber will not wear tires that quickly, just look at the BMW X5, it comes with huge negative camber from the factory. A tire wearing that quickly will have to do more with toe. If the wear is on the inside of the tire, the toe is pointed out. Outside tire wear will be toe pointing in. Get an alignment ASAP.

I had the same issue, I burned 2 tires in 1000 miles, not happy!

sounds like something more than just a bad alignment,
I'm say this because its only one tire that is wearing according to the OP.
that would lead me to check all the suspension components on that side, something is moving/broken and allowing that wheel to move all over.

I don't know what kind of suspension the LS has, but when my strut rod bushings were bad on my Mark, I got some very uneven wear on one tire. Check it out.

Front suspension link

its the front suspension link samething with mine need to check both very ez to replace

bad alignment with toe being out of wack................ I've had cars with bad front end parts and the wheels never burned out on either the inside or outside edges until I replace the prts and messed with the toe

Trust me GET AN ALIGNMENT!! My stang has a bad habbit of losing the camber adjustment and eating front tires from the inside tread area. All it takes is a good pothole hit just right to wack your alignment out.
