VCT Solenoid Gasket question

I replaced the VCT Gaskets today. But they seemed a little hard to go down. Is it normal once they are almost pressed down to want to push up when one side is pushed down? I did my best to get them back in correct. I just wanted to make sure that this is a normal sign as I don't want them to leak like they had before and kill another alternator. Hope this was not a dumb question!

AFAIK, normal. That's what they wanted to do to me. I used a large socket to press them down evenly.
