I need to replace my valve cover seals, the spark plug holes are leaking on several cylinders and they fill up with oil, so i am going to order the valve cover set with the o-rings for the spark plug holes.

I have read the tech article on the forum about doing this job. I also have a check engine light on. There is 1 code and it says "misfire on cylinder 5". In the article it said that when the oil fills in the spark plug hole it can cause the coil to go bad. Sometimes when my car is at idle it will start to misfire and idle a little rough. I am thinking that this is cylinder 5 causing the problem.

Would it be best to replace just the coil on cylinder 5? Or since many of them have had oil in them do i need to replace all of them? That would get a bit expensive i think.

Any thoughts would be appriciated

here is the description of the seal set, i think this is the right one with the spark plug seals

check on rockauto

check with rockauto on the gasket set, yes find a new set of coils and plugs, do the job right and the car will run great.

Replace all the coils and plugs now. You will wish you had if you don't.

(BTW, always replace the plug when replacing the coil.)

i have the same problem but mine is also when i driving and let off the gas and hit the gas again runs rough. if i change the coils and gasket will it take care of that

Run a search and find many threads on this subject. To answer your question, new coils and plugs and a new set of gaskets will probably have you running like a top!

Mine does the same thing, I think it is because it has more tendancy to misfire at lower rpm/load. when the fuel starts coming back in the rpm is lower than when you let off the gas.
