As you can see, I'm a relative new guy. Been lurking a lot, and learning a lot. I got in on the MagnaFlow deal for my 00 LS. After smelling that burning oil smell and doing my research on this site, I bought a gasket kit for the right side. I was very surprised to see that the kit was made of rubber, and not cork like in the old days. I thought oil deteriorated rubber. Oh well, I got work to do this weekend. It looks like the right side is a good side (easier) to start with.

It's newer, better rubber. :D Plus it's hard to form cork to fit in the grooves cut into the plastic covers as nicely as the molded rubber gaskets. Seems like it's usually the right side that ends up leaking first. Left side is a PITA. There should be a write-up around here somewhere.

Funny side note, I'm taking a class right now that is taught by a couple Master Ford techs or whatever and I asked them if they got a lot of LS's at their dealership and they both just started laughing. Valve cover gaskets were the first thing they mentioned. I just thought it was funny.
