Hey everyone, I would like to know if anyone that has a aluminum or stainless steel tube from lskoncepts have clearnce issue when trying to close the hood??

I am going to use the following picture w/ numbers for reference
(a pic I snagged from MDDave to show since it was about 2am and only had a flashlight when I installed it)

I installed my new tube last night and everything went smoothly, but I did notice that the tube did sit kinda high.
The S-bracket (#4) is what is making the tube ride high in my opinion. After installing all the tubes and filter, I tried to close the lid. Closing the lid slowly, i looked for clearance between the tube, filter, etc., and the hood. The hood hit at all points of #2

I think the S-braket's groove wasn't cut deep enough. Because I know that LSKoncepts uses a jig to create and weld everything together.

Anyone run into this problem??

Quick Tip: Install the plastic tube that fits into #1 FIRST before you put the intake in.. Take the tube out, take some sandpaper and sand the plastic end till it's about the same size (alittle bigger) than the ID of the tube. Then put the tip in boiling water for about 10-15 seconds to get it alittle pliable, then immedietly SHOVE it onto the tube, it take alittle work, but it'll go on tight and snug. Another thought is to take off the rubber o-rings.

It could be a couple of things. One they manufacturer of the tube did not cut the groove deep enough for it sit down farther. Also, another issue could be that when you tightened the bold on the bracket the tube went up. Check that to make sure the bracket is all the way down when you tighten the bolt.

The tubes are made from a jig where the brackets and vacuum tubes are welded on in the exact same place each time. The bracked may have moved when it was welded as well. Email some pictures to me and I'll contact the manufacturer so we can find out what is going on. It should be a quick fix.

Ken, just shot some pics. Hopefully they are going to help. I'll send them to you via email in a zip file.

I double checked that the bracket was fully set and didn't rise as I tighten it down. It's "fully down" in the groove. I also looked at the bracket too.. I don't think that the groove could be cut any deeper before it starts going into the first bend. I looks like the whole tube needs to be almost a whole 1" lower and moving that bracket is what I think would do it.

I read somewhere that one person had to really bend thier bracket so that it would fit right because the way it came it would have brought on the same problems that I'm having now.

The bracket that was discussed before is the one that comes on the KKM filter kit. It has to be bent slightly to bolt onto the air box bolt. Your problem is a new one but isn't a major issue.

Sent you the pics via email.. The bracket I'm talking about is the one that is welded onto the intake tube, not the one that comes w/ the KKM filter. The way everything is right now w/ the intake, I can't use the KKM bracket.

Somewhat. I have forwarded the info over to the manufacturer. I'll let you know via email what they say.

my rode kind of high, i just adjusted the oem bracket on the far right, so it wouldnt push the filter to high.

I did too until the end of my tube started to swell and puff up. Had to have the hole in the intake routed out another 1/16" or 1/8". I can't remember which one, but after that, all was perfect. But any way that you can make it work, I'd rather have it snug than loose.
