v8 balancer removal.

Are there any hows to for removing 04 3.9 balancer?..

I'm thinking remove the electric fan. Jack the car up and pull the automatic cover. Lock the flywheel and start working on the crank bolt.(after taking belts off) From here I know I need the balance puller. However when I pull the balancer will it clear everything?

Don't do that, it will damage the flex-plate, it's not strong enough. (It's an automatic, technically it's a flex-plate and not a flywheel.)

Yes, I'm aware of that method. I wouldn't do it (on any car).

Hi Joe---

I believe you'll find that the Ford nomenclature calls the item you've mentioned a 'flywheel' even though there's negligible inertia involved. 'Flexplate' is actually a Generic Motors term.

They also call coil-over-shocks, struts. However, if it is the general desire on this forum that people not learn exact terms for things, that's okay with me too. The thingy at the back of the engine is just not strong enough to hold the crank.
