V6/V8 Engine Swap?

Hello Everybody, I'm new to this website. I'm hoping that somebody here could give me some advice. I have a 00 V6 LS that I was just told today by the dealership needs a new engine. I'm not familiar with engine terminology but whatever they said the problem was, they said it wouldn't be a good idea to rebuild it. They quoted me $8000 which I couldn't even pay in my dreams. His price is a hell of a lot cheaper than the $5200 the dealership told me a new V6 would run ($2800 labor). Does anyone know if this engine will work with my 00 v6? And, has anybody used this guy before for an engine? That price is suspect. Thanks for your help and prayers

From what I have read, I think you're SOL on an engine swap. I would consider a used engine though. $8k!!! It better be made of gold!

You'd need a complete V8 donor car to swap, would cost a small fortune in labor. Just get a used V6.

Well I appreciate the input. I guess this sends my search into the used engine market. SOL is the word indeed, there go my Christmas plans.

How many miles does your car have on it now? For 8 grand, I'd think about selling my current car, adding a few more $$$ and upgrading to a V8 if you wanted it, but I don't know your loan or income situation. Just a suggestion.
