I cant find anywhere that shows the belt routing for the v6.....my car is on the side of the road and I need to get it going so I can get to work Please someone help me I dont wanna loose my job.....

thanks

Dustin

Man, I don't have the routing diagram, but the left side starts from the alternator and the right one goes kind of all the way down. You have to squiz the belt through the tenshioner.

I did it some mine about two months ago and had hard time puting the belt on.

Good luck.

mileage?

hey i was wondering how many miles you had before you needed to change your belt? i was looking up on the maintenance guide, but i did not see it in there, some mechanics i have spoken with say it is good to change it out about every 60,000... thanks

I thought we were supposed to inspect them every oil change and replace them when they show wear???

ok I couldnt even do it I towed it to the local garage and paid 30$ to get it on....So I had it replaced when i did my alt. but the belt was missing 2 rows or lines( i dont know how to explain it better than 2of the 5 ribs were gone)

I changed mine recently at 113,000 miles, it wan't replaced at all before and didn't show much were, but I changed it with the alternator just to be on the safe side.

Yea, it is kind of biyotch to put on.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO after trying for about 2 hours in the rain with no luck I got towed 3 hours later and the garage chaged it in 10 mins and cost me 30 bucks....now I was driving home last night after the football game and I here what sounded like firecrackers....i pop the hood the bet is shreading again....WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Help why would it be doing that????

Maybe one of those tensioners (I don't know how are they called) are messed up or crooked and it keeps poppin your belt.

It didn't cost me any money.

I have vending machines in a company that makes auto starters and alternators. The company is called MPA. They hooked me up once.

Firecracker sound that's odd? I had a similar problem with my previous car, like mentioned above, it turned out to be one of the pulley wheels - the one on the tensioner. It only cost me like $7 and was a simple fix - on that car. I replaced my belt on the LS and it was a little difficult because of where the belt is placed. Also, I borrowed one of those belt tools from autozone. Make sure you remove the air filter hose and be sure to make sure the belt is aligned properly. The other thing I found uneasy was getting the belt centered correctly around each pulley wheel. If not, it will zig zag. Definitely inspect each pulley wheel and the tensioner though. Next time, I'll probably just let the dealership do it for all the trouble.

definately check the pulleys.. I had that once and it was an idler pulley that siezed, but I believe that tensioner pulleys are more common.

take the belt off and try to spin all of the idler/tensioner pulleys by hand
