upgrade the keyless entry system (AKA my first dumb question)

How possible would it be to upgrade the keyless entry system :shifty: as the clicker range doesnt really cut it for me, could I replace it with a newer Ford component and clickers (like say for instance one like in my Mazda 6, flip-key FTW). Should I just go aftermarket and put these dreams behind me (though honestly I'd love to stick a newer ford one in there somehow)?

I'm ok with a little wiring and soldering

and I'm sure my entry code on the pad would change but ....

the reason I ask is because my clickers work like 4 feet from the car at the farthest (yes, i replaced the batteries), which to me is pointless.

I would buy a different remote from ebay. around $15 shipped.

Put the new batteries in it and it should work better than 4 ft.


my old remote works from 15-20 ft away.

Just buy a Viper remote start and have it installed, and disconnect the factory anti theft. Simplest solution.

Mine works from in the house [brick home at that]. And it is the factory original.

depending where im at in location to mine it will work from different ranges im going to order 2 new ones here pretty soon as mine only came with one of them
