So some of you have kept up with the story..

Well turns out the Used tranny from LKQ was bad.. a member on here came and looked at it I thought I gave him a good deal. 3k the way it sits.. Well bank would onl give him 2.5 and I couldnt take it due to I bought the car for more.. Anyways.
Luckly there is a warranty on the used tranny.. Downfall is that Since I bought the tranny for 600 and if there is one for 800 then I have to pay the 200$ difference :,(

So Ive decided I might as well Go ahead spend the extra money to get another used tranny from LKQ and hopefully this time itll be good..

once i get the tranny in and everything is right .. bye bye lincoln :,(
Also I noticed alot of problem my car had before such as like rough feeling when you have a cold start and like almost a knock noise or tap noise when you use to get on it when the old tranny was in.. Is no longer there? So meaning all this time It wasnt the Secondary timing chain it was the old tranny making all the vibration and racket when it was cold..

SO For now im driving the LS with a F'ed up tranny that randomly shoots out of 5th gear, smells like transmission fluid after you get done driving it, has a noise coming from the bell housing due to torque converter being bad and pops into neutral sometimes when you slow down and have to give it gas to pop back into 1st.. Lovley..

Anyways yep thats the update..

You might as well keep it, it'll be like a brand new car when its fixed!

yeah if it ever gets truely fixed,

I mean dude maybe you should take it too a different shop. From the get go couldn't they have just replaced the clutch packs and torque converter, or the valve body. I forget what you said the original problem was. The guy shouldn't have had to buy a whole new transmission.

Was it cheaper to get the used tranny, Cheap doesn't mean good cheap usually means replace again and pay more money.

Thats just my thought, a rebuilt tranny with new parts would be worth the money comopared to just replacing it with a used one. Did you guys just bolt up the used tranny or what.

I would think that with a car that has known transmission problems its pointless to buy the used tranny.

Maybe I'm wrong and new parts aren't available anywhere...

Just my thinking

Can't help anybody that don't wanna be help.
I don't understand why ANYONE would buy used
Parts instead of buying brand new parts.
Cause as you can see, you're already replacing it again..... I swear, I can't see how anyone one wants to be cheap with an LS.

Or any vehicle. That's like buying used tires or brake pads (BTW, I have a set of used brake pads I'll let go real cheap!) I've said it before and I'll say it again as it seems more pertinent today than years ago; you get what you pay for. I remember cheapening out on brake pads years ago. I bought the organic pads as they were significantly less expensive. They lasted all of ~12K miles and I was doing the brakes again. I went back and bought the pads I should have in the first place and they lasted a very long time.

I love the people that blame the car for the mechanics inabilities! EVERY car will have parts fail. I don't care if it's a $100K+ Benz of a $15K Kia, they are machines and they will break. A LOT of it is how the parts were treated. There are a few LSes here with over 200K miles on the odo. How could that be with all the "common" problems here? I have an '00 in the garage right now approaching 180K. Failing coils every 80-100K miles......Well, OK. It sure beats changing the plugs, wires, points, cap, rotor and condenser (and usually the fuel pump) every ~12K miles. The carburetor need tweaking on a regular basis. The coil lasted around 40K miles. I'll take a modern car any day over the old ones I used to have; including the 64 1/2 Mustang with the 4-bbl, 4-speed, 289 with power nothing and drum brakes (that also needed constant adjusting; I still have the tool!).

I agree with you 100% there. Don't cheat out on the parts you put on your car.
My '00 ls has 166,xxx miles on it and runs like it did new.
I change the oil (mobil1 5000) every 2500 to 3000 miles.
And only use NEW parts from ford/Lincoln.
Just to keep oem as much as possible.

I bought used parts (ex: starter) for my '96 Honda Accord. But I wouldn't for my Lincoln.

Number 1, Its the shop I work at. Number two I put used tranny in it knowing I have a warranty on it and can get another if it goes out. 3 I also am almost forced to put a used tranny in it when I dont have 3000$ to get it rebuilt. Im still in school and work 2 jobs. With phone bill, insurance, gas, among other bills Its hard to afford even a 600$ used tranny much less a new or rebuilt one!

Dont get me wrong I take care of my car as much as I can. But there is only so much i can on a budget.. Not like im 40 and I have money set aside or have a well paying job.

$3000 for a rebuild? damn. got my 4r70w rebuilt for $600 with good parts. works fine and i go sideways when i shift...

Yeah well, that's what you get for buying a high quality luxury sports car on a Honda civic budget.
If you was as smart as you thought you were you would've known that when you went car shopping.
Which most ppl don't think that and that's just ignorance.
And also if you would have taken 20 mins out of your day to come to my work and filled out those papers so I could give them to my bank I could e gotten you the $3000 you was asking for vs the $2500 my finance company wanted to give you. But once again your loss and now here you are dumping money into something you can't afford once again gig more into debt.
But the offer still stands if you wanna sell it. Lol

why wouldn't you buy the rebuild kit and put it in yourself. I'm not busting your balls I'm just asking questions. I have to do everything on a budget too, 45,000 in college loans being paid back...

WOW... coming from someone who bought the 2000 v6 LS, If you was as smart as you thought you were, you would've known that when you went car shopping you bought the worst year LS.
Not knowing where you work... but your either implying your a LO, and would have gotten him a $3,000 loan (which would be dumb), or you would file a loan for him under your name which might be the dumbest idea i've heard of on here (worst than the bicycle mirrors).

Either way, you really dont know his situation. Taking out a loan to fix a almost 10 year old problem LS is ignorant. A college kid, working two jobs, and able to pay cash for his repairs (no matter how he does it), sounds like a pretty smart kid to me. specially since his plan was to get it running so he could trade it to his buddy anyway. Way to many people borrow outside their means. Nice to see someone smart enough not to do it. maybe houses would be worth a S##t now a days if people followed that idea.

All im saying is easy on the judgement. especially from someone who's only been on here a month.

Hey.....I bought the "worst" year LS and it has been a truly great experience. Guess I dodged the bullet. :) LOL. Just messing with u man. I know what you mean though.

you guys, you get to raged up over little stuff always amusing...

LOL. thats true, I just hate to see some noob insult a guy doing his best. We're all friends here.... be a little more respectful. No one likes dealing with car problems. specially when there strapped for cash...

Rage over grammar is fun to.

(Should have been "you guys, you get too raged up over little stuff always amusing..."

ha, it was actually suposed to say "so", so I guess it would be rage over mispelling.
