Update on my one off Aureole Rings (Custom Angel Eyes).

These photos were taken in daylight and with the lights on in my living room. The only way to get them to not look like the headlight had a bulb on in it was to focus on the brightest spot and it ended up blacking out the rest of the photo.
This is the passenger side high beam ring for a Gen1. It is calculated at 702000 mcd, Alax7 told me what his rings are rated at but I forgot what he said. I still have much to do before having all four rings built and installed in headlights. I also will be doing other modifications to the headlights. I am sooooo excited to get this sweet looking awesomeness on my sweet awesomeness LS.

It's looking good. The umnitza angel eyes are rated at 100k mcd. Are you sure those are 700k? These are so bright, I can't take pictures of them in the night, it just blinds the camera.

Every camera just blurs it and the light saturates the area. The only way that I could get that shot was with an Android phone camera that allowed me to touch anywhere in the picture to focus on a certain point. Those photos were taken during the day with my living room lights on and it cast a shadow of me on the wall (and that's only one of the two rings). Do you know during the day how far away you can see the Umnitza's? I will check tomorrow how far that I can still see mine and let you guys know.

That is looking pretty cool. I am not sure how the hard angles/edges will look in our kind of 'round themed' front, though.

I actually prefer the hard edges over the Halo's rounded all around design. I feel that it compliments the edges on the fenders and going down the side of the LS.

Looks nice. I would like to see it installed. Can it be blended better to the housing? The right (inside) looks less "factory".

I'm not certain which side you are referring to. The taller side or shorter side? Here is another shot of them earlier on. You can see the design much easier.

Shorter side; on the right. I think if you could make it a solid piece all the way around (would take come gluing and sanding), it would look more professional.

I still like the idea!

That was intentionally designed that way, it follows the lines of the high beam bezel in the Gen1.

Do you see how the piece ends abruptly? Maybe feather the end so it sits flush with the bezel.

This was taken during the middle of the day with my camera phone (sorry it's not a sharper photo). The distance was measured out at 220 ft. This is one ring in the headlight and not the two that it will have when completed.

Here is a shot at night from 253 ft away and a shot without me trying to focus the light saturation out. You can see that it looks as if a regular bulb is in there without focusing.

Ohhhhhhhh.... Too bright for me. Is the brightness "adjustable"?

They are brighter then I had expected. I am considering either making them adjustable or sending less voltage to them.

ummm when they're on at night they just look like a really bright bulb?

The camera really blurs the light, they look great in person and you can still make out the shape of them.

At church this evening I went as far away in the parking lot and could still see them at a distance of 815 ft. YIKES I think that I went a little overboard trying to get them visible in sunlight.

I was just discussing this with an engineer for GE and I asked him how difficult he thought that it would be to have them at full brightness with the lights off and dim them at night (when the headlights turn on). So, when they are completed I will most likely be setting it up that way.
