Upcoming CAROLINA THUNDER NOV. 25

I was thinking about what I could do to the Mark to make it quicker for this meet. The most obvious to date would be getting it retuned primarily to shift at higher rpms. But due to my unemployed state funds for that are out of the question. I do not want to shift it manually and risk over reving it particularly in the 1st to 2nd shift. But the worst offender is the 2nd to 3rd shift that shifts at 5,450 rpms. So I came up with this insert into the console that when installed will only let it be in 2nd or 3rd gear. So I launch it in drive and as soon as it shifts to 2nd I pull it back into 2nd without having to worry about pulling it into 1st and then I can manual shift it into 3rd when I want :D Plus a finger hole to make it easy to remove. I started with a cardboard template then traced it to a block of wood. Tested and works great :D

i really dig the wood solution but why would you not just launch in 2nd. Then let her have 3rd when ... it's time.

I'm fairly sure I'm about to learn something. ;)

It would be a dog launching from 2nd gear..and don I like the wood piece..you should finish it nicely and stain it to match the wood grain bezel..make it look like it belongs.

Launching in second only costs you 0.500 or so in the ET. LOL :D
