underdrive pulleys...where?...

where can i get some underdrive pulleys for my '00 LS?...

We aren't sure they will offer the hp increase that you see on other vechiles - someone will have to try it. One concern I have - the alternator output is borderline to meet the needs of the car - so you would want to ensure that you continue to spin it at it's sweet spot rpm.
 
good thing that you attached those pictures of your LS becaue they dont make them for that particular white model :p :p :p :p :D
 
what about running a high amp alternator?...and why is this platform so difficult?...i mean i love the car, but its like its unrecognized...also, they dont make them for the white model?...aww...shucks man...what if i plaster some tacky tribal graphics all over the car?...
 
oh if you do that, you'll be able to put all those sweet parts from JDM on it... whole new world!

This car is unrecognized for the most part by the aftermarket community. Most aftermarket stuff has been designed and marketed by LS owners. It's virtually impossible without deep pockets to do major performance modifications. It's easy to make it look better, not so easy to make it faster. Look to ILLS and QuikLS for guidance. They have the true hot rod spirit and have pioneered serious mods for this car. Check out the sticky's for a few of their projects.

If the charging becomes borderline while idling then bumping the idle by a few hundred rpm's will help combat that. Obviously that would be at a slight sacrifice of gas mileage, but sometimes it is a give and take for some performance mods. It would require testing but it should net some gains. If serious charging issues still do result then just machine an OD alt pulley or just have the alt rewound in addition to the UD crank pulley.
 
Don't our cars have variable assist power steering? I think turning the pump at a lower over-all RPM could put the calibrations for the speed tuned assist into a bit of a mess... Plus, I have my doubts about our cooling system being up to par to allow the water pump to turn at a lower RPM too. Of course, that is assuming the water pump is belt driven on the same belt as the rest of the accessories. (I can't say that I remember for sure)

I'd be interested to see the results, but I wouldn't want to see them on my car... not without extensive evaluation time on someone Else's car!

I tossed around the idea of under-drive pulleys on my truck, and after factoring in my 35" tires (power steering), low gears (cooling), 750watt RMS amp, fog/driving lights and twin electric cooling fan conversion (alt.)... decided that perhaps sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone.

There is usually allot of slop built into production cars that will allow the running of an underdrive of anywhere between a 15-20% and still be fine. Testing will be required, but that is normal with any prototyped modification. I do not see it being nearly as difficult as you may think though. I highly doubt the variable speed power steering assist will be affected at all.

Well, I guess I just don't have THAT much faith in Lincoln! :D But like we both said... if someone takes off running with it and makes it work... Can't complain!

I see it less about faith and more about my personal experiences with custom modified Ford's that I have worked on. We will see what happens. I know I will not be doing this mod for my vehicle as I have enough power anyways. For the people who really want to push their N/A LS to the max it can be a good mod for some extra ponies.
