Just a random thought. I have a 8.8 rearend that I took out of my old '88 turbo coupe and I was wondering if the internals from that would work in my mark. It would be nice to at least have the 3.55 ring and pinion and limited slip would definitely be a plus. Does anyone know if this is even a possibility?

All 8.8 stuff will work. TL has to be 28 spline which it is not later year cobra 8.8 31 spline TL won't work.

The 87-88 Turbo Coupe rear end would work. It is 28-spline. It's an excellent choice, because the Automatics came with 3.73's with Trac Locs and the standards came with 3.55's with Trac Loc.

good news for me then, i've had that rear end laying around for about 5 years and finally get some use out of it. Looks like I have a project in a couple weeks. Also, think it would be fine to keep the original driveshaft when I swap to the 3.55's?

If I was you I would do min of 3.73's. Heavy cars need more gear in general. You can score 3.73's off ebay for like 35 bucks used. When your in there doing all the work might as well get most bang for buck. But 3.55's would not be to bad. Look into a clutch kit for the TL. Ford has a newer Kevlar kit for like 69 dollars.

Keeping your driveshaft is no problem. The 3.55's are an excellent gear. You will notice a difference. What kind of Mark do you have?

I wish I still had my 87 Ford T-Coupe with a five speed.

I had a black/black 85 TC and a white /red 87 TC all 5 speeds. I beat the heck out of the 85. Was a fun car. Just turned 21 and I used to be the designated driver when me and all my buddies went clubbin. Man many a drunks in that car. Woooooooo! goodtimes.

Its a '95 base model. I've wanted one for years and finally found one for the right price.

I always had to haul my drunk friends around in my turbo coupe as well, never trusted anyone else to be a DD with my car running on 22psi.

Would you like to sell the brake setup off that rearend?
