RE: troubleshooting tree available

It's in the works.

Ok. So I cleaned up all the wells prior to changing the valve cover gasket kit (which includes the plug grommets). I know there is a way to check the pulse width or resistance. The car does run better, I still have a faint odor of sulfur under hard acceleration. I am sure the coils have suffered some. I replaced the previously purchased motorcraft platinum plugs with NGX IX plugs. I still have the same BWD coils on it as well. I have a multimeter. I am sure there is a troubleshooting tree available somewhere on this site. The search feature seems to work better from google though. Any tips would be great!

Resistance checks (done at about 3 volts) won't do any good for the way that coils fail on the LS due to high voltage breakdown of the epoxy. Hook your ignition scope up to the primaries and put the coils under stress with the engine running. Now look for abnormal pulses. Don't have an ignition scope? You can do it with a good digital oscilloscope. Don't have that either, then it will cost you more per coil to have them tested than it does to replace them. The LS doesn't like aftermarket coils anyway.

yes there is...

step one
insert symptom here > change all coils and plugs > retest

and I'm not even close to joking.

Repair Manuals have trouble shooting sections.
I haven't loaded my DVD much as of late but I recall those sections for sure.
