So the other day I made a deal with another forum member for a trunk lock button. The one on my door had popped out the center piece and its gone. So a few days later i get the part i asked for however, it was different in size. it was much larger then the one for my car. So my question is. How many different sizes are these buttons and what years are they grouped in?

The one I received was from a 95. I do not know if it is a base or lsc or if that even makes a difference. Now seeing as my interior is for the most part identical to a 95 I figured it would fit. is this one of those little things that kinda crosses over to the gen 2 side of things?

also by no means is this thread a shot at the person who sold me the switch as I am the one that asked him to sell it to me and i am not looking to recover my money. I am simply looking to get educated on this part so i do not make the same mistake twice.

Thanks for any info.

Same size at least by measuring the od of the button (the parts you can see)
Just measured

It would be the outer diameter. and the connection plug is different. while im board on lunch tomorrow ill try and snap up a photo of the two. side by side.

Whatever he sent you is not from a 95 then..all 93-96 buttons are identical..only thing that differs is the colors..but all should plug in and work between the 1st gens. 2nd gens would probably work also but I believe those have a chrome button instead..could be a different connector on the back however, never taken one out, but from the outside they appear the same. I have 96 door panels on my 95 and the trunk buttons are identical.

I have a chrome one from a 2000 conti in my 95 (with 97 interior) I thought they were the same through out all the years.

I would find out. I don't think it's from a Mark at all. Marks & Conti's have the same button. Some are chrome, some are black, some are painted to match your interior but overall they are the same button.
+1

I searched on ebay last night: unofficial findings: 93-98 mark VIII's and 95-02 Continentals.....same part

i sold him the button and it was removed from this door panel. door panel 001.jpg

this is the first mark i have ever owned. i bought it as a parts car a few weeks ago.
i know nothing about the car, and marks in general, other than the car had brand new coil overs installed on it and it was abused to the max.

Well if you had a picture of what you sent him any one of us would be able to tell you if its the correct button or not. This is what it should look like: this one is from a 1st gen
