I had previous issues regarding some damaged wires under the hod. Got that solved, (finally) but I now have two messages that I didn;t have previously. Firstm I have teh check advance trac message, although I believe that's due to a faulty wheel speed sensor on the front drivers hub. Any other suggestions would be helpful for this issue if i'm off base.

The bigger issue is the trunk open message, although its clearly closed. Does anyone know if there is a wire connected to the latch that sends the message that the trunk is closed? If not, what mechanism communicates to the module(s) that send the message that the trunk is closed? If anyone knows, please help!!!

Thanks

Open the trunk and look up to your left on the lid, there is a little stick with a rubber spring cover over it.

You may have to adjust the switch a little higher. Open the trunk and press the switch all the way down. If the message goes away while you are holding the switch down, it just needs to be adjusted. If it doesn't, then the switch is defective, or you have a wiring issue. I'll have to check the wiring diagrams to be sure, but I think that it's the REM that reads the trunk open switch.

If you have a check AdvanceTrac message and no ABS light, then it's not a wheel speed sensor. It's the steering angle sensor, the yaw sensor, or a module calibration issue.

Joegr,

Thanks. How can I narrow down the check advance trac issue (to one of the three mentioned).

Also, what type of wiring issue could cause teh trunk problem. After the wiring nightmare I just finished, I hope its not related!

You need a good scan tool. The generic ones won't do it. I don't know of any other way.

It shouldn't be related, unless whatever damaged the wiring under the hood also damaged some wiring in the trunk.

Not trying to thread jack, but.... Joegr, any idea why my "check advance trac" comes on every morning when its below 40 degrees.. Once tempatures are above 40 it never comes on. No other lights are on when it happens.

Either the steering angle sensor, the yaw sensor, or the wiring to one of those two. The steering angle sensor seems to be more prone to problems than the yaw sensor.

joegr,

After finally getting a chance to look, Im getting the check advance trac and the car with the lines behind it is on (the one that comes on when the advance trac is working. Does that narrow it down to the wheel speed sensor? Thanks

You'll always get the light on when the message is up. If you don't have an ABS light on, it's not a wheel speed sensor.

Joe, Thanks

Who makes a good OBDII scan tool for reading the Check AdvanceTrac code. I hear the autotap readers are pretty good. Any suggestions.

I don't know about AutoTap.
I have AutoEnginuity, and I'm happy with that so far.

Woah Nelly, that's not cheap! Lol. Well its not horribly overpriced but you would need to use it often to make up for the price. Any members in the Albany, NY area have one?? :)

How about Huntsville by lbooth77?

it wouldn't take too many trips to the dealer to recoup the cost
