I got this latch/release from a mid-late 80s Caddy for my project. How are these wired up? I hooked the black wire on the servo to the + and the - to the base to test it on the battery charger and nothing happened.
Not sure if it's stuck open or does it pull back?

There are many different kinds of battery chargers, and most will not provide a DC voltage if not connected to a battery. Try it from an actual car battery (can still be in a car), before you conclude anything.

I touched some wires to a batt and it made a bunch of clicking noises.
Weird that it worked with a charger on a Taraus popper but not the Caddy....?

Depends on the amount of amps it requires to make it work.
