Well its broke. The E light comes on in the gear selector indicator and the check transmission light is on. Lincoln Dealership said i would need a new transmission $3700. Im looking for other places but its going to be expensive. Hopefully they can repair it. Lincoln said burnt tranny fluid, solenoid failure and possible interior damage.

hmm, you don't have a warranty? Either way, mine is having the same problem I looked up the TSB's and read around, everyone said it's either transmission solenoid, valve body, or both. Unless you drove around with the error for a while you probably burnt up the tranny.

I drove around after the first minor slip of the gears without the "E" because i didn't know anything was wrong until i got home but then from my house to the dealer i drove with the "E" which is probably a couple of miles. Oh and the warranty is over its a 2000 with 125,000 miles. Its a lot of miles but this is the first major mechanical problem. The car has been great to me.

Yeah mines a little different than yours. Mine will drive fine for about 15-20 minutes then it will just give me the error and jump down to 3rd gear(if im in a higher gear). But once I get to a stop sign I turn off my car and start it up again, then I can use 4th + 5th for another 15-20 minutes.

nope :D
it actually hasn't been doing it frequently. and i rarely even drive now-a-days. i only go to bcc. i have noticed, it only barely slips in 5th gear under a light load. so when i wanna pass a car, i just put it in d4 to get around then bump it up to d5. its not like i press the accelerator and the rpm's fly up in the 4, 5, thousands and the car doesn't accelerate. i'm gonna wait til its slippin bad or i get a code. so far i haven't gotten any codes since i've owned the car.

Well the guy who was going to try to fix the transmission said there wasnt any used trannys from a junkyard so he said he could try to rebuild it with a 30 day warrenty for $2000 or i could buy a new tranny from ford and it would be a 3 year 75,000 mile warrenty for $3000. So it looks like im getting a brand new tranny.
