Anyone here gone into the transmission far enough to need to remove the connector to the solenoid block? This is on a Gen 2, 5R55S. If so, any suggestions on removing the bolt that holds the connector to the block? I thought it was bad enough on the Mountaineer with the same transmission, but this is just stupid.

I cut a wrench really short to be able to move the bolt about a sixteenth of an inch at a time. PITA. But it worked.

Doing this now. It is a PITA!!!. Cut a 10mm wrench took like 2 hours messin with it. It should be fun getting the it back in.

It is not too bad once you get the feel for it. I did it with a cheap ratchet, since it had a thinner handle than my Craftsman so I could get a click or two per rotation.

Would a ratcheting crescent wrench work? I'm considering tackling this job once it warms up here.

I do not think it would in this instance...there is not enough clearance for a standard combination wrench, so I doubt the ratcheting version would fit.
