I had a werid shift in my 95 Lincoln Mark VIII today and what happen when I started the automobile and put the shifter in Rev it hit kind of hard and the idle raised up and then settle down and then when I put it into drive I could feel the idle was higher. Please let me know your thoughts.

possible vacuum leak, the hard shift is because your idle is high and its slamming it into gear.

Check vacuum leaks, what year mark are we talking about here?

I check for any more vaccum leaks and could not find any but I am still look like a mad man. Also, I tested for any codes and didn't come up with any which was strange since the orange check engine comes on when it is cold and sometimes my idle a little shaky from time to time. Could this be a 02 sensor not switching durning warmup?hmmmmm

95 Mark VIII LSC Black on Black. I also discounted the battery and let it sit for a while and everything seems to be fine idle wise and the transmission is not slamming the reverse gear anymore.

It's behind the motor, pretty much under the wiper cowl, on the side of the throttle body.
