Does anyone have info on how to remove it? I know where the front pretty well but are there any special procedures? Maybe take off the exhaust and I heard that something special needs to be done for the driveshaft
The front part of the gas tank needs to be dropped after you remove the whole exhaust. Then there will be enough room to unbolt the drive shafts from the diff and slide it back.
Then I think there is like 7 or 8 bolts for the bell housing and 4 for the tq converter, just use a few extensions and elbows to get the bolts on top of the transmission. Just be sure your socket is all the way on, you don't want to be rounding those bolts off.
The starter can be tricky but just like the bolts on top of the transmission, use a combination of extensions and elbows throuh the front of the k member to get the three starter bolts.
Once you and a buddy man handle the old one out make sure you grind off this ear on the new one to make installation much easier.
Yeah that starter sux, the torque converter bolts weren't much fun either. The driveshaft bolts are heavenly. Your gonna need a E-14 socket, you could use a 12pt 10mm but it could easily strip them out. I almost did that to my cross member bolts which are the same reverse torque heads.
Thought I should give you a little update, the trans is just about out i have the jack under it and i have to finish unbolting the trans itself.
Overall it wasn't too hard once the exhaust was out.
There is however a new issue, on the side of the transmission i don't know how to get the bolts. Drivers side is blocked by the Cat and the passenger side is rounded, Bolt extractor wont fit and i was wondering if i can go in through the wheel well
