My transmission feels funny.. Slips in to overdrive right pass 40mph accelerates slowly after 40.. I have to almost put it to the floor for it to drop into the passing gear.. What could be the problem?? Thats when im driving in Dfive its drives normal in d4 im confused! Help!

Thanks!
Greg

V6 or 8, sport or non, Gen1 or 2?

Add to those questions.
1. Check engine light on? If so, does it ever flash?
2. Does the engine ever feel rough or like it is missing?
3. How many miles?
4. Have the transmission fluid ever been replaced? If so, how many miles ago?
5. Do you have harsh engagement of reverse?
6. If you have a sport, then how does it do if you shift manually?

It's a V8 The check engine light is on but it's not flashing. It has 57,000 miles. It's a Gen 1 2002 LSE V8 sport. It sometimes drop into drive kinda rough. But that's only when the rpm's are high like in the mourning. I never use the manually shift. And the fluid have never been replaced.

It's possible that you have a transmission problem, but it's more likely that you have one or more marginal COPs. I'd start by getting the OBD code(s) read. That could point you in the right direction.

I had the light checked. The codes read something about the gas cap. So where do i go from here?

Maybe just try disconnecting the battery overnight. It will have to "relearn" the shift points with the adaptive driving system or whatever it's called.

Just a free option to try out.

Thanks! I'll try that tonight

I woke up about 15 minutes ago and waiting for coffee. Not a good idea to poke me before coffee, lest you want me "poking" back. This is rule #5 that every LvC n00b should know. It's in the orientation packet you received when you signed up.

:bowrofl:

Whats this procedure?

I was referencing the third law of forumology:

(also in my orientation packet)

New member + basic question + no search = poking the bear....err frog!

Subtle reference yes, but just trying to give reap a heads up.

I'll give you a nice hint.

Search for the word "reset" (no quotes) posted by me in the LS forum.

I found it! Nice write up by the way. I had already did the unhook overnight thing and it made a world of difference in the shifting. I know the guy that had the car before me and he was an aggressive driver. Me on the other hand more of a driving miss daisy style so now that i have driven a day after resetting it it feels like a new car to me. I will use the Frogman way however on the next go around to prevent having to reset all the electronics as well thanks.:D

Just in case some of the other newer members did not get the rules of Forumology, I wanted to post them for their benefit. If I did not get them right please let me know, since I typed them from memory.

First Law
Length of membership in months – total # of threads started is greater than or equal to "0"

Second Law
Forum X (Threads +Posts +Keywords) / (Search,Google)= Results

Third Law
New member + Basic Question + No Search = Poking the Bears

Fourth Law
Answers/help from members + a simple "thank you" = a positive experience for all

Fifth Law
Theorem states that the willful disregard for any or all of laws 1-4 yields the variable “P” known as the popcorn factor. This will help determine how much popcorn that members will have to make while enjoying the subsequent banter between the offending newbie and the LvC member.
