For a while (few months) I had a weird sound at WOT that sounded like very quiet supercharger whine and couldn't find the culprit. Now I'm not able to go WOT or even half throttle to where it kicks down without rpms spiking to 5-6k rpm and me having to micromanage where in the throttle sweep I'm accelerating at. At the same time this happens I also get a whining noise similar to the sound before but much louder and worse. Casually driving I don't have any slipping on the transmission at all, just under more aggressive conditions.

I'm not very well versed in transmissions but someone mentioned the torque converter might be the issue? I know the lockups are weak as well. I'm more seeing if anyone has had this issue and what they found out.

Fluid is red, no brown and doesn't smell like it's burnt.

Have you heard the whine at start up? If so, that might be your transmission oil pump. My whined for years and I ignored it, now I have brown fluid and need a transmission.

Check this thread and scroll down to the post from xtriggerman
No. The whine was at WOT and hard acceleration. In place of the whine the rpms spike and seems to kick out of gear.

Did you check the transmission wires/wire connector?

From xtriggerman's response:
"seeping trans oil from seals had gotten the wires to the trans connector wet. The oil turned the wire insulation to a chalk like substance that flaked off with any movement to the wires at all"
