Transmission fluid

I'm going to be taking my LS to a shop soon to install a used transmission I'm purchasing.

Should i deliver the oil to my mechanic that i want him to use? Or just let him handle that?

The owners manual recommends Motorcfraft Mercon V ATF... do i have to get that at the dealer?
Or can i just get any ATF at the parts store?

What do you guys recommend?

Ask the Mechanic at the shop. If he has it then there you are, if not go to parts store and get it. You don't have to get it from Ford.

Any brand Mercon V ATF. Motorcraft is just the Ford owned parts name.

You might want to go with Synthetic Mercon.

Just make sure it is "Mercon V". The brand doesn't realy matter. I personally would stay with a Ford brand one. The "V" after mercon a must.
